EXHIBITION HISTORY
In summer of 2005 a group of Lithuanian textile artists (Laima Oržekauskienė, Inga Likšaitė, Almyra Bartkevičiūtė - Weigel, Jolanta Šmidtienė) were invited to take part in the international exhibition “Advertising Art in the Black Light” in Berlin. The Lithuanian presentation stood out not only for their technical variety, individuality and mastery, but also for conceptual engagement.
At the end of May, 2006, during the Kaunas Days, with the help of the initiative of Jolanta Šmidtienė, textile artists and Kaunas artists guild, the first contemporary art exhibition “Black Light” was organised in Kaunas castle. Here the textile works by more than ten artists were exhibited in the dark. The mysterious and unexpected exhibition received a positive welcome by Kaunas citizens and the visitors.
